Energy Star Tax Credits
According to Energy Star.Gov you should verify your Energy Star tax credit eligibility. Not all Energy Star appliances qualify for the credit. Promag Energy Group can provide you with the Manufacturer Certification Statement for the air conditioning equipment you plan to purchase. Or, you can search the Manufacturer’s website. If you are considering purchasing a new Energy Star air conditioning system, some good to know tax credit information is:
- Tax Credit: 30% of cost up to $1500.
- Expires: December 31, 2010
- Details: Must be an existing home & your principal Orlando residence. New construction and rentals do not qualify.
Tax Form Information:
“For products “placed in service” in 2009, you need to file the 2009 Tax Form 5695 and submit it with your 2009 taxes (by April 15, 2010).
On the 2009 1040 form, the residential energy tax credit (from Form 5695) is claimed on line 52.
For products “placed in service” in 2010, you would take the tax credit on your 2010 income taxes.”
Remember to save your receipt and that there is a difference between rebates your electric company may provide for buying Energy Star Equipment and the Federal Tax Credit for Energy Star appliances.
Promag Energy Group provides professional heating & air conditioning repair and new installation services to those in Orlando, Kissimmee, Melbourne, Sebastian, Cocoa Beach, Titusville, Port St. Lucie, Jensen Beach, Fort Pierce, and Vero Beach.
