If you are in need of a new air conditioning unit in the Orlando area, I have put together a few tips to help you with the process.

• Make sure the company is licensed and insured.

• Don’t be tempted to purchase a unit from the lowest bidding Orlando air conditioning company. You want the job done right so be willing to pay for the time it will take to properly install your new Orlando air conditioning unit.

• Make sure the unit you’re buying isn’t to big for your home. An over-sized unit obviously uses more electric, turns on and off more often, and just isn’t efficient. Contractors should calculate how much cooling a home needs according to the guidelines set forth in the Manual J of the Air Conditioner Contractors of America (ACCA).

• Always purchase Energy Star units. New air conditioners should have a SEER of 13 or higher.  Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. The higher the SEER the more efficient the unit will be.
